20/20 High Protein Shakes, Holiday Style

Now don’t get me wrong, I love a vanilla 20/20 shake with peanut butter, ½ banana and cinnamon. That standard go-to shake gets me through my fair share of quick breakfasts! But sometimes it’s fun to shake things up, and with a hint of sweetness, these shakes are great as post-dinner “desserts”. 


Here are a few of my favorite seasonal shake recipes:


“Hot” Chocolate
1 20/20 Chocolate Shake Packet
1 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
½ tsp. peppermint extract
1 cup water

Directions: Blend all ingredients until combined. Microwave for 30 seconds to 1 minute, or until warm. Serve immediately. Optional: For a thicker shake, use milk, almond or soy milk in place of water or use less water (note this will change the nutritional info).

Nutritional information: Yields 1 serving. Per serving: 180 calories, 21 g carbohydrate, 23 g protein

Semi-Pumpkin Pie
1 20/20 Vanilla Shake Packet
1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
1 tsp. vanilla extract
¼ cup pumpkin puree, canned
1 cup ice

Directions: Blend all ingredients until combined. Serve immediately. 

Nutritional information: Yields 1 serving. Per serving: 200 calories, 26 g carbohydrate, 24 g protein

Cherry Chocolate Mocha
1 20/20 Chocolate Shake Packet
½ cup cherries, unsweetened (fresh or frozen)
1 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
1 decaf espresso shot or 1 tbsp. decaf instant coffee grounds
1 cup ice

Directions: Blend all ingredients until combined.

Nutritional information: Yields 1 serving. Per serving: 225 calories, 32 g carbohydrate, 24 g protein
