21 Days to Success: How to break that Sedentary Lifestyle

Alright, let's do some reminiscing.  Let me ask everyone a question?  When you first started 20/20, how long did it take for you to get into a routine with your exercise and meal plan?  Week 1? Week 2?  A month?  Well, on average, it takes at least 21 days of good, consistent effort before anything becomes a routine in your daily lifestyle.  So did it get easier after week 3 for you to come to the gym and get in 30-45 minutes of cardio 5 days a week and mealtrack every day?  For me, it did.  I don't know how many times I've told myself, "Oh, next week I'll get back on it" or "I'm too tired to get in a workout today.  I'll do it over the weekend to make it up (and not end up doing it)."  Sound familiar?  That's why Dr. Dedomenico and the rest of your 20/20 Lifestyles support staff emphasize the importance of avoiding all travel when starting the program.  We need your full and undivided attention.  

How long do New Year's Resolutions last?  One week?  Two Weeks if we're diligent?  But do we ever see them past week 3?  Probably not.  Whether you're just starting the program, trying to get back on track, or starting a new training program, just remember it takes time, effort, and patience.  The road is hard and arduous at the beginning, but if you can stick with it, you will reap all the benefits.  Think of how hard it was on Day 1 to get through 15 minutes on the elliptical and how much easier it is now.  You're probably doing it on Level 10 effortlessly without having to stop after 30 minutes.  Good habits are hard to form.  Be patient and make it a priority for yourself.  Remember, you and your body should always be number one.   Take care of yourself and ride that wave of success.
