Greg & Sheri

Age: 37 & 36

Lost 46 & 51 pounds

Completed Program June 2007

In spite of growing up with a very active lifestyle, which included soccer, football, and cross-country running, Greg found his activity levels declining when he joined the workforce and began traveling extensively. “I never seemed to have time for myself,” says Greg. “Also being on the road so much affords you the luxury of an expense account, which can lead to poor eating habits and excessive drinking.”

The deciding factor for joining 20/20 Lifestyles came when Greg attended a funeral for friend who had died from a heart condition. “I was watching the memorial slide show and saw his two young children playing in front of his image. I was determined to get healthier to be there for my children.”

Fortunately for Greg, his manager and several co-workers had been through the program and touted its success. With their support, he made the decision to relocate from Florida to Redmond, Washington for the five months of the program. His family decided to join him.

For Sheri, who had gone from 138 pounds to 276 pounds over the course of 19 years, the incentive was to be a positive role model to their daughters. “I had tried many other solutions – Dr.’s Quick Weight Loss, Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Nutri-System, Slim-Fast, and Richard Simmon’s Deal-A-Meal,” says Sheri. “I’ve been a member at several gyms and worked with a few personal trainers. I’d also had cosmetic surgery and resorted to taking Xenical and Redux. 20/20 worked because they address not just the physical weight loss and diet plan, but also the underlying reason for the weight gain. I was a strong, capable woman who had the power within, but not yet all the tools necessary for a positive change.” “My expectation was that this was a rigorous and unyielding program, but once I met with my doctor and nutritionist, I realized that these were just smart people helping people like me,” adds Greg. “This was a comprehensive approach to diet and exercise with the laser focus on making a lifestyle change.”

“I have more energy, more desire to experience new things, and am more inclined to get out and play with my children,” says Sheri. “I feel like I have a whole new world open to explore and look forward to experiencing it with a more enlightened self. My love life is better and I feel empowered. I’ve noticed a positive change in my relationship with my husband and am so happy that we chose to do this as a shared journey.”

“Our lives have only gotten better since the day we chose 20/20 Lifestyles,” says Greg. “I now enjoy walking, running, and playing with my children, whereas before I would avoid those situations in general. I’m getting way more respect at work now that I’m healthy. People seem to want to be led by people who are fit and happy. My overall mood is better and I handle stress at both home and work so much easier now. But the biggest change is the closeness I now feel to my wife. Without her support, I would not have been so successful.”

Prior to beginning the 20/20 Lifestyles Program, Greg took Allegra-D twice daily to cope with allergies and stuffiness. After the third week in the program, he went off the medicine and hasn’t used it since. “It was well worth putting my life on hold in Florida for five months to get rid of weight it took 10 years to gain,” he adds.

Sheri has been inspired to go back to school to get a personal training certification. “I figure that if I can do this, anyone can, and I want to help others reach their personal best,” she says. “20/20 Lifestyles opened up a door to me that I thought was long closed – the door leading to a bright future brimming with confidence and adventure.”

Greg & Sheri's Healthy Tips

  • Avoid “emotional eating.” If you feel stressed, recognize it for what it is, take a deep breath, take a walk, or find an alternative response other than reaching for comfort food.
  • Let go of any guilt you may feel for spending time on yourself. You deserve balance in your life.
  • Make your workout time a priority.
