In 2002, Microsoft introduced an industry-leading weight management program for its employees and spouses/same-sex domestic partners enrolled in a Microsoft medical plan. The program was designed to reduce health care costs and improve the health outcomes of overweight and obese individuals via a comprehensive clinically-based weight loss solution.
Program Criteria
- Diagnosed as obese with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or higher.
- Overweight with a BMI of 27-29 and diagnosed with two or more of the following conditions:
- Diabetes
- Hyperlipidemia
- Hypertension
- Depression
- Congestive Heart Failure
- Coronary Heart Disease
