Kerry

Age: 39

Lost: 55 pounds

Completed Program: April 2007

My health was average when I started the 20/20 program. I would say it was relatively unremarkable - I did light workouts and didn't eat terribly. Though, I wouldn't say that I like the direction that I was headed. My cholesterol was creeping up and my energy level was very low.

I had just moved to a new city and started a new job, I figured, why not start a new healthy lifestyle as well? I knew it would be a lot of work, but it seemed fitting. I had tried other diets and I had tried personal training in the past, but the changes were not lasting. 20/20 really addresses making a permanent change and provide you with the tools to make this change last a lifetime.

The most challenging part of the program was the eating and working out regimens during the initial month. However, once I embraced these new habits I started losing weight and feeling better, the positive impact just snowballed.

My personal life is now totally different. I have so much more stamina now, I can finally keep up with my fiancé when we run or bike ride. I wasn't expecting such a change in my professional life, but have found drastic improvements in my work. I am more confident and my improved health means that I get more rest, feel more alert, and deal with stress much more effectively. It almost seems infectious - all of my coworkers react to me much more positively than in the past.

I just want everyone to know that this program can really work for them. What do I really love to do? Sit in pubs, drink beer, and eat pizza would be my honest answer…there is no exercise that I just love for its own sake. However, I have discovered my motivation, I have the tools to maximize my workouts and eat thoughtfully and responsibly. You and I do not have to become triathlon champions and give up pizza to make this program work. (of course you could though!)

My life is totally different now. I can not only keep up with projects at work, but can keep up with my fiancé on our runs and bike rides.

Kerry's Healthy Tips

  • Don't overanalyze everything you are asked to do in the program. Just trust them and throw yourself into it. If you actually do all of the things that they ask of you, it will work for you.
  • Make yourself the priority - keep all of your appointments and aim to be consistent.
  • Find your own motivation - while I don't love running, I find that workouts do give me time to decompress. They provide a welcome break from work and allow me to work out many of my problems.
